Of course, there are exceptions where violating the RFC is recommended. For
instance, some SMTP servers won't follow CNAME recs to the final A rec, so if
you're stacking a mail subdomain on the same IP as another A record, you
should make the mail subdomain an A record, too, even though you normally
should only have one A record per IP. In practice, it doesn't hurt a thing.
