Supply and demand.. RAM tends to fluctate quite at bit at times. A couple
years back it was way up, above $1.00/meg (I think at one time I heard that
a major asian manufacturer/supplier of 'generic' ram had their factory burn
down, which was what mostly contributed to the high prices - although this
may or may not be true, and I may or may not be correct in my memory of
this)

About a year ago it dropped to around $.25/meg. According to
pricewatch.com, it's still around $.25/meg (PC133) for Micron RAM, or even
as low as $.15/meg for generic ram. So now is as good a time as any to get
RAM, since where prices are at now, there isn't much place to go but up...
