I use the Xircom Realport combo nic/modem card on my 'old' Toshiba.The
card is worth more tha the comuter, expensive. It works well with
Debian, I leave it in and consider it a part of the laptop. If you need
the card slot for something else this may not be the solution as it
takes up both slots.
