Subject: importing data into MySQL

Is there a way to verify the data that I will be importing before I do the
actual import?
I have a huge dataset, and some of the entries don't meet the
criteria....how do I get those entries to be put somewhere that I can modify
them and import just those entries later?
What other choices do I have with regard to errors while importing?
