If I remember correctly, sharing the service with other computers is a violation
of their T's & C's unless you are specifically paying for it.

Maybe they have changed them?

I currently use ACS's DSL. You can rent a route from ACS if you want, but a
linux gateway works just fine. Or any other router that supports PPPOE. I
have 4 PC's behind my gateway and everything works fine.

I don't recall reading anywhere that you aren't supposed to share the
connection and I've described my setup to their tech support a couple of
times with no mention that I shouldn't be doing it.

Maybe for a business it matters, but not for home use.
