Gates makes security top focus

Following a string of embarrassing security glitches, Microsoft Chairman
Bill Gates this week announced a major strategy shift to focus on
security and privacy and restore confidence in the company's software.
Gates called on employees to make a fundamental change in the way they
think about developing products, emphasizing security over new
functions. In a memo to employees Tuesday afternoon, Gates outlined his
``Trustworthy Computing'' philosophy, calling it ``more important than
any other part of our work.''
