Got it to work....found it in the Grub faq.
Have to add to the kernel command line options (/etc/grub/grub.conf)
hdc=ide-scsi
Then to modules.conf
options ide-cd ignore='hdc'
(yes, those are single quotes)
Then xcdroast could see both drives. COOL!
