[lofting in a FreeBSD pitch from the lower-48]

I'm using a WAP-11 connected to a FreeBSD gateway using natd and ipfw.
Works dandy. I've got a public wireless net on the WAP-11 on one
interface, and a private wireless net on a Lucent RG1000 on another
interface (prevents arp-spoofing attacks by having the networks on two
separate broadcast domains). Third interface is connected to my DSL
router.

The WAP-11 can be a bit freaky depending on the firmware you're running.
The 1.4h3 firmware is really pretty stable. The older firmware (in the
1.4g* chain) would lock up a lot.

As far as clients go, I know I've seen both the Cisco cards and Lucent
cards working under linux and used against the WAP11 no problem. I've
succesfully used a D-Link, a Lucent, and a Cisco under FreeBSD. The
support in both OS's was pretty impressive (compared to what it was a
year ago).

PS: hope all is well in AK. I do miss the place.
