This is probably not what your looking for but it is an alternative.

My wife and I went on vacation recently to London, France and other places.
In most every location they had these huge "cyber cafe" places. In each of
these places you would purchase time on a web connected PC.

In my case we used it to remotely connect to our mail server to get our
mail.

It is another possible option.

I agree with Greg though. ATT (used to be IBM) has many connections world
wide. For five bucks, you can't beat it.
