You're right, the honeymoon was soon over after this country was
established. That said, I think the difference now is how brazen and openly
the government has become in flouting the will of the people. That process
started roughly 90 years ago, but it's really picked up steam the last
twenty years. And it's at all time crescendo right now. I expect it'll be
worse tomorrow. ;-P

The extension of copyrights is an excellent example to illustrate just who
the government does serve in this day & age. At this point this point
Mickey won't hit the public domain until, what, 2048? I'm sure they have
some legislation ready to file five years before that, though.

:-) The lack of internation IP treaty agreements at the time is well out of
my scope of concern at the moment. I'd just be happy if we could quit
getting screwed by our own *in* America. One would think that a purely
domestic issue would be solvable... but who are we kidding.
