I remember when they switched over a couple years ago. It was the end
of an era. ;-)

It was about time, though. The name (freashmeat.net) was a direct
in-joke reference to a site that went defunct in 2002;
slaughterhouse.com used to catalog new windows freeware and shareware;
freshmeat.net started up about 2 years after slaughterhouse did...

Since the original site wasn't around, the joke wasn't funny anymore
(if it was to begin with).
