I grew up on a homestead/farm/ranch. We made things work. In my
book, that is called "hacking".
When I make things work, computer-wise, in my book - I think of
that as 'hacking'.
Unfortunately, those who use computers maliciously, break into
things, and perhaps __also__ do things of a military nature for
their country are also called hackers. They should be called
"crackers" or something else. For good or for bad...
IMHO
BTW: When I was a kid, the word "geek" referred to someone who
worked at a carnival and bit the heads off of chickens for the
benefit of the customers....
God, I'm old.
