We're in the process of getting beefier OS X servers due to my bosses
love affair with Apple. He's not the head of I.T. mind you.. just the
head of the company.. which I guess has some sway.
I've been searching for a way to use 12 cores on OS X without
'breaking dist' so to speak. I've found a LOT of utilities to help me
stay sane.. I've experienced pain and pleasure in it's new server
control panel and services.. and now I've moved on to the fact that I
really honestly hate HFS+.. So I went searching for a better FS that
could be used with OSX and have found MacZFS and it is.. bliss.
I'd like to thank Royce for bringing ZFS back up to the surface for
me. I'm not a huge BSD user and I had a difficult time my need for
instant gratification mixing with the learning curve that FreeBSD.. or
even Debian/kFreeBSD.. introduced. At this point I'm just happy to
have non HFS+ for our main storage pool. HFS+ will still be utilized
for the root filesystem and some small supplimentary filesystems.
Hopefully I will be showing off ZFS Send/Recv to el boss mang later today.
