[aklug] Slackware Setup Log & Question

/dvdHey Folks,
I have been using Slackware GNU/Linux for my home machines for 10+ years
and love it, but not am not really an IT guy. I have included a log
from my most recent system setup and was wondering if I was doing
anything stupid security-wise, mainly regarding the group file. It
seems like the secret to making Slackware work work well is to add your
primary user (pat) to a bunch of groups in the /etc/group file and maybe
the sudo wheel thing. Please keep in mind that I am on a private LAN,
firewalled to WAN and have encryption turned enabled on the wireless
network. My kids use the machine to play games, etc, but don't know any
passwords or geeky stuff just yet. I have doing slackware for many
years and got in the habit of taking notes during setup of each new
machine. I have another Slackbox in the basement that is the server
(file storage).

Mainly I am wondering if I am doing something stupid in the groups file
that leaves my machine vulnerable. I also thought others might be
interested in the setup I use, because it seem pretty functional for
general communications, multimedia and running my small business
(electrical engineering). The new machine is an approx $900 box with
AMD mobo that only has 1 moving part (processor fan). It seems to be
quite zippy and the proc fan rarely runs, but don't play video games.
It overheated and rebooted once, but I had a bunch going on (VMs, video
ripping, etc).
