I think "unknown job" is one of those shorthand ways of saying:

"One of eight mysterious errors occurred, and we didn't have the time
to write separate code to handle each one. Either that, or some error
occurred in a program we didn't write, and so we decided to swallow
the stderr output and give you a vague failure message instead. We'd
point to the relevant log files, but unfortunately they will only give
you the exact same vague error message we did."
