Ah ... the facts. If we changed just two words in the statement
above: (Obama->Bush, liberal->conservative), then we would have a
statement made by my leftie middle son during the last
administration. If we just changed (Obama->Clinton) we would have a
statement that I heard pretty much every day, back in the day when
I used to worship at the feet of the Number One Dear One (Rush).
If we changed (Obama-Johnson, and just removed 'liberal'), we
would have what I heard Tom Hayden say in Sproul Plaza in Berkeley
  in 1969.

There are 3 branches of government: Legislative, Executive and
Judicial. I am of the opinion (from what I know about history),
that currently all branches are less corrupt than has many times
been the case in the past. After all, I lived thru Watergate, and
consider Jackson, Grant and Harding - just as examples - as deeply
corrupted. All the same, I think it would be great to see a
permanent reconnaisance group at Capitol Hill composed of both Tea
Party and Occupy (whatever) type folks. Just wondering around
taking pictures with cell phones. Sort of a antidote to the
  massive lobby industry.

I think there could be an argument made that one of the most
corrupting influences (along with lobbyists) in our country is the
Infotainment industry. And I'm talking about both the
con-servative and lib-eraL members of the industry. But, you know
what? It is incumbant upon each of us to be truly informed, rather
than let infotainment do our thinking for us. Kind of reminds me
of Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters"; the difference is too many of
us are willing to pull up our shirts and voluntarily put a Fat
  Slug on our backs.

Consider the follow two statements. Both are, in my opion, lies,
but are typical of the rhetoric of Infotainment where the
factually accuract are incorporated in untruths.

1)"Franklin Roosevelt violated the Constitution by being elected 4
  times"

2)"George H. Bush is connected to nazism because his grandfather
and great-grandfather financed the Nazi party."

As for 1), yes Franklin Roosevelt was elected 4 times, and yes the
constitution prohibits someone from being elected president more
than twice. The lie comes about when we ignore that despite
tradition established by George Washington's refusal to run a
third time, the 22nd amendment which makes the prohibition was not
ratified 'til 1953, 8 years after Roosevelt died.

As for 2), yes Prescott Bush and Herbert Walker did lend money,
support, etc to the *early* Nazi Party, as did many others,
including Liberal Democrats like Bill Langer of North Dakota.
Doesn't make them Nazis any more than than lending money to my
middle son makes me a liberal.

Love America, think for yourself! Don't let Rush Limbaugh or Ed
Schultz or anyone else of their kind tell you what to think. Know
a little history. If you think our government is socialistic, go
live in Cuba for a while. You'd love our country all the more when
  you get back.
