No, seriously, i'm not sure how my thread turned into gentoo bashing, but gentoo is totally bootloader agnostic. The "install process" is all self managed and you don't even need gentoo files until well after partitioning. Its also DE agnostic too... you literally just change one line in a config file to let it know which login manager to start (if any).
