I agree that Google isn't necessarily the best research tool anymore. I have been using a meta-search tool for a number of years that I have found very useful. It is called "Copernic", they offer both free and commercial versions. Unfortunately it is a windows tool. So is there a Linux equivalent application?

http://www.google.com/webhp, as does http://www.google.com/mac and
probably the rest as well.

This is also where http://www.google.com takes you to. I guess our
specialized searches are going away.

I, for one, am more than just a little irritated. I think at least 50%
of my Google searched initiated from http://www.google.com/linux.
