If there are any, they are kept pretty low key. I believe there are seriously frowned upon.

The office will put in more jacks, when needed.

Are you (the OP) using any of those little SOHO linksys switches in the
office? Maybe to share a jack among a couple workstations or add in a
network printer? Those things are notorious for getting scrambled -
maybe arp table overflow or something. When we see that we power cycle
them and then things are good again. For a while. They'll often also
go catatonic after a power fluctuation...
