If you're using a config management system backed by a SCM it's in the logs.
And even if administrators can disagree should one not be present at least
there's *something* to explain why they made the changes they did, which is
better than trying to guess. Especially if one of the admins made a mistake
and the actions taken did little to remedy the problem they logged. All
very important, and much more an accessible view than what the event manager
provides, with no manual correlation required. Plus it's typically not so
easily purged like it is on Windows.

Anyway you cut it, Jon, Windows AD/GPOs, etc., is *not* feature complete
with a true config management system. Arguing that it is won't change
reality.
