Damien,
If you don;t convert on upload then you can select download instead of export
when you want to download the file without exporting.....

so upload resume.odt and uncheck convert. Then look for the file, check it,
right click on it and at the bottom of the drop down is "download", that will
download the odt file and prompt you to determine what local app to open it
with.....
