I don't think anyone in charge of the AKLUG list wants to ban free
speech here. But there is an argument to be made for trying to keep the
list on-topic. Socialistic influences on American politics is a great
subject of discussion. But Italian pasta recipes are also a great
subject of discussion. It doesn't make much much sense to have either on
a Linux mailing list, unless you can find a way to keep it tied fairly
close to Linux or information technology.

Furthermore, I don't think there are any interpretations of first
amendment that would prevent list owners from moderating their own list.
If you really want politics and constitutional law to be a regular part
of the Linux discussion, the best approach would be to start a
"conservatives-for-Linux" mailing list. (I'd be the first to join!)
