He was the one I was thinking of, although now that I think of it I'm
not quite confident enough to call him a "FOSS idealist". He seems to be
really into open source, but I kind of got the impression from his
lectures that he really didn't care which direction his students went. I
guess I just don't know him well enough.

Chappel seems to be big into Linux also, but he lost my vote a few weeks
ago when he said "I've given up on trying to live without Windows."

Neither of these instructors really taught me anything about FOSS ideals...
