If you're OK with Google violating your Constitutional privacy and
stealing your precious mailing list secrets, Google Groups is a
decent, free, and manageable alternative to having to set up...
 - Your own mail server
 - Your DNS/MX record configuration

Worked well this summer for notifications/scheduling for an ultimate
frisbee league I run.
