It gives me bad media after the installation starts...like 1/2-3/4 of the
way into the install. MD5 looks good and check media looks good. I get the
same basic error with XP64 as well. So do I need to Gang the memory or set
it up for a 64 bit mode that is not listed in teh docs?

Just out of curiosity. What happens when you select "Check Installation
Media" from the ubuntu boot menu?

That *should* boot up a 64 bit version of the OS and run md5sum against the
files and check each one. If it says it's fine then I'd say your computer
is possible possessed.
