Thanks for the suggestion... I'm now running Zimbra with SSL on port 2032. Don't know why I didn't think of this my self. I did get burned once changing the postfix configs. That's a different story... Anyway, it works.
Now about OpenVZ on EC2... While a few websites say it's possible, I'm not sure I wanna go down that path. You need a kernel that supports OpenVZ and maybe some modified libraries. I couldn't find any details. I'm not even sure Amazon lets you run your own kernel.
I'm still interested in running OpenVZ on EC2. It would be a money saver...

You do realize that SSL is not tied to a specific port, right? If you
support TLS/SSL with SMTP, POP, IMAP, and HTTP, they all use different
ports, and can all use different SSL certs as well. Methinks you're
massively over-complicating this task...
