I think I've found some interesting information and hoping that =20
posting it will spur someone on with some more ideas.
After reading this post:
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=3D20061103144038651
I tried using smbclient from the OSX client machine to create my directory.
Much to my surprise the directory was created the way I expected to be.
This implies that the finder is what is removing the writeable group bit.
What's wierd is, unless the finder is going back and purposely =20
re-setting the file permissions on the file, the logs say it should be =20
getting created like I'd expect.
I'm still working through this, but this seems like a promising avenue =20
to pursue.
I'm not keen on changing the umask for the finder app for a particular =20
user, because that means all directories created by that user will be =20
modifiable by the admin group...but I guess that wouldn't be too much =20
of a problem.
Anyone have some thoughts on this?
Mike B.
