I run pfSense booted from CD with the config stored on a thumb drive.
The host machine is a 500MHz Celeron and my CPU hovers around 2-3%. You
can do this with a machine most people would probably pay YOU to haul
away. By the way, this config makes upgrades a piece of cake.
