Subject: Evolution Sucks!

RANTING!

At the last Friday meeting someone said the Mozilla foundation was not
going to support Thunderbird. It turns out that's not entirely true. But
based on that information I decided to give Evolution a try. It's Crap!

I'm having trouble composing email. Spell check is not on the tool bar.
Bulleted lists are hiding in a drop down menu. Creating bulleted lists
doesn't work right (my opinion).=20

Reading email also sucks. I have html email turned off. That includes
pictures. In Thunderbird there is a button to show graphics/pictures.
Evolution doesn't have that. Why?

Filtering sucks! It's easy to create filters in Thunderbird. Evolution
makes you jump through hoops. Even after all the hoop jumping some of my
mail doesn't get filtered. I have to select it all and hit Ctrl+y to
manually run the filtering. Why?

Evolution is slow. It takes for ever to get my mail. I get a lot of
email. I'm on about 30 mailing lists. Something like that. Thunderbird
sucks in my mail and filters it before it even hits the inbox. Evolution
dumps all mail int the inbox and then starts filtering. That would be
fine if it didn't take so long.=20

Over all I give Evolution a big thumbs down.=20

The good news is that Mozilla is not dumping Thunderbird. Or so I was
told on the Ubuntu mailing list. Mozilla is considering a spin off of
some kind. I didn't check to see if this story is true. In any case I'm
dumping Evolution and going back to Thunderbird.=20
