I've got an encrypted USB drive that I use for backing up data. I think
I set it up on either Fedora or CentOS. It's been months since I've used
it ( done a backup ). I've been moving things around. I thought today
would be a good day to give this drive a try.
I installed "cryptsetup" on my new server running Ubuntu Dapper. It
didn't work. Or I couldn't get it to see the drive. I decided to give
the workstation a try.
1. sudo apt-get install cryptsetup
2. plugged in the USB drive
3. Dialog box pops up asking for a pass phrase
All my old data is right where it should be. I'm doing a backup as I
type. When it's done I'll take it to the safe deposit box.

The last two links are for encrypted systems. My laptop is fully
encrypted. Works great! Keep your data safe.
