I filed a report on 2.6.17-2-k7. Now I'm going through the process of
finding a kernel that works by modifying small parts of the Debian
config. I can do it by turning off ACPI entirely, but I want to see
exactly what is causing the problem since ACPI worked find in 2.6.16.

Once I get a bootable kernel I'll submit a diff. However this is the
3rd Etch kernel in a row that isn't bootable on that laptop (both 2.6.17
versions and now the 2.6.18), so I don't know that the maintainer has
the ability to test it. Or maybe there's not enough of us affected - it
seems to be AMD processors on some KM133 boards. One would think that
there are a few of those still in circulation though...
