AKLUG Mail

Greg,

There are two things I like about the current setup:

- the mail server has been very reliable
- it is geographically dispursed from our web server.

These two items have served us well for many years as we have had need
to move and change the site. The hardware for the web server hasn't
been that great and I am loathe to ask Graham to host our mail until we
get the new web server running.

If your adamant about putting the mail on our servers, then I think we
need to consider two things:

- buy new hardware that would allow for hardware fault tolerance
- host the server in a location that we have physical access to during
the weekends.

Although this last item implies we don't have access to our server over
the weekends, that's not completely true....Dee does give us access,
however, there have been many times when our schedules have conflicted,
thus delaying that access.

I agree that not having control over the mail server is a disadvantage
at times, but this needs more conversation and alternate ideas.

Mike B.
