Interesting question. Is the Xserve box the one being replaced? If it is
which generation of Xserve box is it? (PowerPC or Dual-Core) If we're
not replacing OS X (which is really BSD), then it becomes a non-issue.
Because the OS X can talk fantastically with pretty much any linux box.

Interesting question. I think the process is correctly laid out here:
http://us4.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/ As well as many other
aspects of samba represented via example. Most of the new distro's are
coming out with Samba 3.0.X. Of course the added advantage is that if it
doesn't have what you want, then just upgrade the package via source! :)

Awesome! Since I'm doing a LOT of driving around, I think I may drop
some CD's off to him ahead of time. It'll give him a chance to look them
over.
