Before I say anything else here I should put up a big fat warning

WARNING!!!
Changing the software on an iPod could make it a fancy paper weight.
Don't blame me if your iPod stops working.

I just put ROCKbox on an iPod Nano. I thought about installing Linux but
ROCKbox has more features. It's designed for mp3 players. You can also
play doom but the screen on the Nano is a bit small.

You can reboot the iPod with a button combination. On the Nano it's
menu+select. There are others. Do a search for diagnostic mode.

I was able to get ROCKbox installed following the instructions from the
download page. Make sure you get the right software for your iPod model.

http://www.rockbox.org/download/

Note:

   1. Make sure you do a backup of your iPods firmware
   2. When partitioning the iPod make sure the partitions are the same
size as the original partitions. I'm not sure if it makes a
difference. However, the first time I tried this partition 1 was
bigger then it needed to be. The iPod didn't work.
   3. format partition 2 as vfat

I was planning on writing some documentation on this. I should have
something up by Thursday. For those that are brave just follow the
instructions at www.rockbox.org
