How to determine chipset

Apparently, I did not compile support for my specific chipset on my
latest kernel, causing my hard drive not to be able to support DMA.=20
How would I determine the chipset on my motherboard so that I can
recompile my kernel? Or if this doesn't sould like it would be the
cause of not having DMA, I'm open to those suggestions as well :)
