Actually, when I used a filter system I used both procmail [1] and maildrop [2].
I found maildrop to be a bit easier to understand. Since getting qmail
up and running well I've switched to dot-qmail processing for all my
filtering needs (that, and the mess822 package).

I agree 100% about mutt, I'll never go back. GUI is so... gooey. ;]
