linux 'lan meter'?

Hey folks,

Is there something out there for linux similar with similar
functionality to fluke's lanmeter? tcpdump and ethereal are layer 3
systems, but I want something that'll tell me how many garbled or
otherwise messed up packets I'm getting, and how they are messed up. Be
nice if I could let it run as a service as well so I can look at it
using rrdtool or something similar.
