network notification

hey folks,

I'm monitoring the traffic thru a cisco router with mrtg. I actually
started it as an info exercise, but I've noticed that when the traffic
drops suddenly, (say to less than 30% of previous), that usually is a
signal that Bad Things have happened, or are going to happen.

So, what do people like for email notifiers (or even pager or
cellphone...). Ideally, I'd like something that just monitors the
traffic, and when it drops suddenly, calls me. I can see doing a lot
more (like specifically identifying which Bad Thing).

There's several options out on freshmeat, but I'd like to know what you
folks like.
