Just did the following:

from my workstation (Redhat 9)

$ ssh -X <admin host>

Note that admin host can get throught the firewall

<adminhost> $ ssh -X <host on other side of firewall>

<host on other side > $ xclock

Clock appears on my workstation. Works as advertized.

NB that I can also forward other ports , per the ssh documentation
