Subject: Grip question

I have started to use Grip to rip & encode some of my music cd's. It
seems that each time I want to rip a cd I need to exit grip & restart
it. I would like to be able to rip several cd's in a row but I don't see
how to make grip see that I have inserted a new disk.
Grip works with /dev/cdrom which is /dev/hdc but if I try using
/dev/cdrecord which is /dev/scd0 it says it rips & encodes but doesn't
really do anything. Does grip have issues with scsi devices ?
TIA
