Don't give up. Without some help no one gets over the hump of learning.
The Friday night meeting in Anchorage is the best place to get help ASAP.
Remember, the squeaky wheel get's the grease. Best Regards,
Dee

wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
vi /etc/wvdial.conf - edit username/password/phone
vi /etc/resolv.conf - edit nameservers
wvdial

what should the line that says edit username/password/phone look like when
I'm done?
Also, how do I find nameserver running Windows XP?

OK, I did not know that.

In an open xterm window, type "xhost +" (without quotes).
Then in the same window, type "su" (without quotes).
You will be prompted for a password. Type in your root system password.
Then follow the URL for wvdial instructions.

Best Regards

I take it this goes in wvdial?
In the menu I tried clicking on it and it shows up for about half a second
and then disappears. How do I get it to not disappear so I can enter the
info into it?

Greetings,

I will try to help, but my time is limited. What version of SuSE ?
Do you possibly have wvdial installed also ?
(See http://open.nit.ca/wvdial/ ) and it should be on your SuSE CD's or DVD.

Do you any logs (errors) to share ? Hard to debug anything without more
info.

I ran SuSE for a long time but have moved to Debian for ease of server use.

Best Regards,
Dee

So I am coming to the conclusion that nobody on this list knows anything
about KPPP and dial-up internet?? It's getting frustrating trying to get
SuSE on line. I tried calling ACS tech support, but they are clueless. If I
can't figure out how to get on the internet with SuSE soon, I'll probably
go back to Windows until I can buy a distro that will work.
