There are, ... several different ways of compressing digital audio
besides
the Fraunhofer MP3 compression, ... including MP2, Windows Media
Audio, WAV and QuickTime. One notable system is delightfully called Ogg
Vorbis, an open-source patent-free professional audio encoding and
streaming
technology that most of the panel agrees is superior than MP3, though
not very popular. Another is MP3Pro, created by Coding Technologies,
also considered much better than standard MP3.
