Hello Eddie,

I think you have mistaken some of the points these guys make sometimes.
I am reading the post along with you have not really found anyone being
very bitter here, but then maybe I am used to seeing people get smashed
for not reading or trying to understand first before.

Like take what Erlend was saying here:

> Starter kit? Get outta here, Crux has nothing to do with being a starter kit.

I and anyone on this list is with him, not against you but in fact for what he
has seen in Crux.
See RedHat, Debian, Libranet, Mandrake...etc all come from the same place.
Linux is a package, Bash is a package, XFree86 is, ...etc all of these pkgs
comprise an operating system...right?
People who bundle all this stuff make what is called distros. Great!

Now in order for you to truly understand how Libranet is going to work,
you "MUST" understand how it is put together, pkgs scripts, runlevels, shells.
Just an example is this, say you want a package to do something for you, however
the vendor Libranet makes the pkg so it doesn't quite do what you would like.
You could go on the net and find someone who did the pkg your way..cool download
it install and "Oh Man" it screwed up my dependencies! Or you need to compile in a
patch, or maybe add an option: Now we are where Erlend left off, it is fact not
a starter kit but rather a clean distro already to be customized by you sir!
See in order for you to truly enjoy any distro you must first learn how the
powerplant works along side with everything else.

If Libranet and the rest use the same source but pkged in .rpm .deb .why
you have a new problem, now you have to learn how to compile source and
then learn how to write a .spec or debian rules.

Eddie I wasn't loking down my snout at you the other day in my last post, I was in
fact trying to show you how to look at Crux as a free book, schooling, education that
in the long run will help you.
People on this list are not hammering you, they see things you don't.
All I would give you is one persons advice, please try to settle down and pick up
a book load crux and start from page one.
Learn what happens the minute the kernel loads and what it hands off to the next.
Learn how and what happens when that login prompt appears, "WHAT IS SHE DOING".
Learn why BSD-init is in fact better.

I am going to agree with the other gentlemen though, until you undestand why
Per and his trusted built what they did please try to keep non-productive thoughts
to yourself.
I can tell you, if you were to read and try first there is not one professional in here
who would not answer a post by you, it is true "FOR EXPERIENCED USERS" means we
all discarded bloatware, stupid scripts that take longer to run than just opening the
files, memory consuming apps with bells and whistles that in all honesty are less
productive than WindowMaker Fluxbox ...etc

Erlend writes:

Eddie you have 2 choices "Windows or Linux" iether way you will be doing some
kind of mataining, downloading service packs bigger than Crux or simply typing
"PORTS -U" then pkgmk -d

Erlend writes:

Again see, Erlend and everyone using crux is has been there done that, they see what
you are unable to see yet.

Erlend writes:
> and you are yet to say what the documentation is missing, bashing something - saying
> it sucks and so on is not productive unless you also give examples of what to fix.

Erlend is correct here too, Per put up a page with install instructions a few other fellows
have added extra stuff, but if your speaking of the Documentation being happily removed
from /usr/share it was stated on the web site. The reason for this is simple, if a fellow
knows how type http://www.google.com/linux he can search a whole library of linux trials,
errors docs, hints, ...etc you get the point, he removed redundant bull-#@&%.

Erlend writes again:
> But before you say what's missing, read it again, and read what Crux is based for. I
> kind of remember something about "experienced user". I don't mind if you've used Linux

Again Eddie I can only offer advice, if you start reading, ask a "?" after doing so you'll
get an opinion on what you discussed. I will say this too, every person in here has been
where you are, dimwit, troll, arse, richard cranium, you can look at this as people on
this list are bad, or you can own up to the truth, maybe you need to do your part first sir,
because Erlend, Per, Daniel, Jurgen.....to many to list have already done theres....

No matter what you do in the future, respect this list, these guys aren't Microsoft, these
guys give there time for "FREE", every pkg in base, opt, contrib, unofficial, is just one
part of a community of people showing respect.

Take care,

Eric Fortner
