Fonts Again!

I am havng trouble getting some fonts to work....I install a program called msttcorefonts for my debian boxen. it down loaded all the fonts, then i also installed another couple programs to make thos fonts work, they are xfftt ttmkfdir, and then clay scott gave me some commands to run

cd /usr/share/fonts/truetype
su -c "xfstt --sync"
xfstt &
su -c "/usr/X11R6/bin/xset fp+ unix/:7101"
ttmkfdir

and I ran this and i can't get them to work. please tell what else to do in baby steps please.:)
