USB 2 ARRIVES IN LINUX TEST VERSION
Linux operating system project leader Linus Torvalds has
released the latest version of the core software, which includes
initial support for Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0, which outpaces
the speed of USB 1.1 by a factor of 40, to 480 Mbps. Microsoft's
Windows XP operating system does not support USB 2.0, although
the company has written support for the software. Users will be
able to get the USB 2.0 upgrade in early 2002 via the Windows
Update online software archive, according to Microsoft.
