Subject: Launching an X window as root

I set this up on my old machine, but I have completely forgotten how I
did it.
I use Eterm for my terminal work in X, and I want to be able to launch X
programs as root and have them launch into my (user) X.
When I run as root now, I get:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
Application initialization failed: couldn't connect to display ":0.0"
Anybody know where I tell X to use display 0 as the default?
Thanks!
