I just finished converting my new computer to root on a software raid 0.
(btw, df -h is great fun: I have 105 gigs free on /dev/md0)
Anwyway, the performance of the system jumped noticeably, even when just
booting: it took 5 or 6 seconds off the boot time.
(Note that this system is seriously musclebound: athlonXP @ 1.4 ghz, 1
gig ddr ram)
I'm using an Abit KG7 motherboard (without onboard raid) and a
cmd649-based ATA100 controller.
In case anyone was curious about performance...
