<div dir="ltr">Back when I was looking at SD-WAN, I was looking at it from the PoV of a cost effective MPLS replacement. The biggest issue I had with it was the lack of visibility into what was happening and why. A lack of logs/reporting to tell you why a given path was chosen, and a "path history" for a given site.<div><br></div><div>You will see similar issues with Software Defined Datacenters, like VMware NSX or Juniper EVPN technologies when deployed in a leaf-spine architecture. Say you have 4 spine switches and 10 racks, each with an uplink to each spine; 40 uplinks total. Now you hear a rumor that a given VM or customer is having packet loss. Which path is the traffic taking? Where was the VM/customer at the time? Was there any network events occurring? </div><div><br></div><div>The abstraction of the network can increase complexity significantly, while also making it simple for provision for end users (VMs or customers).</div><div><br></div><div>I also got quotes for a managed service for SIP trunking via SD-WAN to replace T1s. It could be a good deal for some situations where you have access to multiple Internet providers.</div><div><br></div><div> -Mike Gonnason</div><div><br><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr">On Mon, Feb 13, 2017 at 11:01 PM Christopher Howard <<a href="mailto:christopher.howard@qlfiles.net">christopher.howard@qlfiles.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex">I remember studying into it a few years ago when I was focusing<br class="gmail_msg">
